This Week’s Movie Reviews
Goodbye 2022

SHE SAID is returning by request for another five days in both the Rosebud and the Starlight. Also finishing out the year, AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER and THE FABELAMANS are both holding over for another week. THE FABELMANS, as of Friday, will be playing in the Rosebud in addition to the Starlight.

Coming next Friday (1/6) CORSAGE, starring the wonderful actress Vicky Krieps as Empress Elisabeth of Austria. As the poster for CORSAGE makes clear, this is not a hopelessly staid biopic, but rather a bold reimagining, an empowering rebellion by Elisabeth to reclaim herself and her agency.

Marie Kreutzer's film departs from the facts most radically in creating a new final act for Elisabeth, one that is not necessarily happier, but is true to her nature, and to this audacious film's savvy sense of invention. Krieps won the award for Best Actress at this year Cannes Film Festival. "Krieps gives an exhilaratingly fierce, uningratiating performance." -Guardian"[A] bold, visually striking and ingeniously anachronistic portrait of an empress in complicated rebellion."-New York Times

New Year's Eve Recipe. You've seen THE FABELMAN'S, SHE SAID or AVATAR, and you're remaining cozy at home this New Year's Eve. In that case, stop by the theatre for some popcorn, generously apply your favorite Rose seasonings, return home and stream one of these great movies from our Film Library: RARE BIRDSEVERY LITTLE STEPMUSCLE SHOALS. Then wake up into a new year!
