This Week’s Movie Reviews
2020 Oscar Shorts

We're adding 25 films to the Rose Theatre Film Library this week! Friday (4/2) we begin our annual - and always popular - presentation of the Oscar nominated short films. Spanning 6 to 40 minutes, these 2020 award-winning films hail from Iceland, France, Germany, Palestine, Israel, Norway and the U.S. The animation, live action and documentary programs can be purchased individually, or bundled together at a reduced price. Some content and language is not suitable for children under 12, so please read the rating guidelines carefully for each program.

CUNNINGHAM is a stunning profile of dancer and choreographer Merce Cunningham. The film was to have been our closing night presentation at our 3rd Dance Film Festival last April, but was cancelled along with the entire event. It begins streaming today, 3/31. "Immersive and enthralling." -Screen International

Writer-director Crystal Moselle immerses us the lives of skater girls in SKATE KITCHEN, an unfailingly compassionate ode to, and genuinely appreciative look at the rewards and challenges of female friendship. Streaming 3/31. "Absurdly good. Tough and joyous."-Buzzfeed

Also coming to the Rose Theatre Film Library this week, 5 previous hits at the Rose: WOMAN AT WARMUSCLE SHOALSLEANING INTO THE WIND: ANDY GOLDSWORTHYRAISE HELL: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MOLLY IVINS, and IRIS, Albert Maysles loving portrait of 93-year-old fashion icon Iris Apfel. "'Iris' serves as a spirited, often dazzling primer on how to fight the dying of the light and feel fabulous while doing it."-Washington Post

Happy Birthday, Mom! You're a loving and inspiring 101 years young today.
