This behind-the-scenes documentary follows the production of choreographer Alexander Ekman’s work “Play,” staged at the Paris Opera in 2017. Ekman gives himself the job of creating—and transmitting to the public—a sense of real, unbridled play, and soon finds that it’s no small task. Play Serious is a film about meeting artistic crises on the world’s most famous and intimidating dance stage, filled with wild joy, magical choreography and stunning visuals.
