Preparations To Be Together…

PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME is a mysterious Hungarian story that considers the slippery relationship between consciousness and desire. Marta, and accomplished 40-year-old neurosurgeon hastily leaves behind her life and career in the U.S. to reunite with the man she loves. Yet when she arrives at their agreed upon meeting point he is nowhere to be found. And when she tracks him down he claims not to know who she is. Director Lili Horvat flips the femme fatale trope on its head by taking the woman's point of view. Marta is an expert at treating diseases effecting the human brain, yet Horvat understands that even the most sophisticated calculus is ill-equipped to interpret the mysteries of desire. After all, love itself may be a kind of neurological disorder. (Excerpted from the NY Times). "What sets this film apart is its fusing of the impassioned and the grimly palpable." -The New Yorker

Rembrandt, the grandmaster of intimacy, rocks the art world: 350 years after his death, many people, even entire nations are obsessed with his paintings. Aristocrats cherish, experts rule, art dealers investigates, collectors hunt, and museums battle. MY REMBRANDT dives deep into the art world of Old Masters, exploring the motives of its elite. Dutch director Oeke Hoogendijk has created one of the most enjoyable art-docs in years. [Hoogendijk's] "latest documentary explores, to great effect, the motives for possession, obsession and ongoing fascination with Dutch Old Master." -CineVue
