I couldn't be happier with this family taking over stewardship of the Rose. They possess everything I was looking for, and are committed to upholding the Rose's long history and the legacy of Phil Johnson who lovingly restored the theatre 30 years ago. As residents of Port Townsend since 2014, George and Michael have a solid understanding of what makes PT and the Rose so unique.

     When you see them at the theatre please welcome them warmly. They take the reins in mid-January, and I will continue to consult with them throughout the new year. You'll find the full story in today's Leader.

     Don DeLillo's novel White Noise has long been considered unadaptable to the screen. This much is true: It is hilarious and horrifying, lyrical and absurd, ordinary and apocalyptic; WHITE NOISE dramatizes a contemporary American family's attempt to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life while grappling with the universal mysteries of love and death in an uncertain world. "It's such a fascinating, invigorating spectacle." -Guardian

     Family is the the theme that runs through my column and our programming this week, and ARMAGEDDON TIME is no exception. The great James Gray brings us a deeply personal story about the strength of family, the complexity of friendship and the generational pursuit of the American Dream. Anne Hathaway, Anthony Hopkins and Mark Strong star in this "refreshingly understated drama whose gentleness makes it all the more bittersweet." (Hollywood Reporter)

     ALL THAT BREATHES has been a solid hit in PT, and concludes its run this Thursday, as does PINOCCHIO. Also this weekend, THE HOURS from the Met, our last presentation of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, and two more shows of CONCERT FOR GEORGE, which sold out twice last month. Have fun.
