This Week’s Movie Reviews
City of Gold

In BROADCAST NEWS (1987) William Hurt asks Albert Brooks, "What do you do when your real life exceeds your dreams?" Brooks replies, "Keep it to yourself."      This past Sunday evening life did exceed my dreams, but I can't keep it to myself. To thank our Rose members (Levels 3, 4 and 5), I hosted a movie and a meal event in the Starlight Room that was so extraordinary, it will now become an annual event.

Following a screening of CITY OF GOLD, the wonderful documentary journey through out-of-the-way restaurants and food trucks in Los Angeles, 30 people then dined on a movie-inspired meal that was truly one of the finest I have ever had.

The meal was the creation of Victoria Gilligan and Rachel Jensen, two remarkable food artists who will hopefully be returning every year to stage this event. It's our way of saying thank you for supporting the Rose with your membership.

All three movies currently playing will be here for another week. YESTERDAYhas been selling out every show since opening last week, so it moves downstairs to the Rose on Friday. And returning for two more shows in the Starlight this Saturday and Sunday, THE BIGGEST LITTLE FARM.

Opening next Friday, two very fine films - ECHO IN THE CANYON and THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO; 92% and 94% respectively on Rottentomatoes.

Only 7 tickets remaining for SOME LIKE IT HOT, our classics film in the Starlight, August 7th.
